All around Central America: From Maya to sea

You're standing at the airport with your suitcase packed, your sunglasses on and a giant grin on your face. Then just a moment later, you're flying above the clouds towards the Panamanian sun. A visit to Panama City without a trip to the Panama Canal? No way! The 50-mile-long waterway, which connects the Atlantic with the Pacific, is the city's – and perhaps even the country's – number one landmark. Head to the visitor centre at the Miraflores Locks and get the ultimate view of this must-see attraction. And yes, it's just as epic as it sounds! Quieres más? Then head to Pacific Lookout and soak up every inch of Panama City's glittering skyline – absolutely Insta-worthy! From here, take a relaxing stroll to the city's old quarter Casco Viejo. It's the perfect contrast to the modern city, boasting colonial-era buildings, the Presidential Palace and a gorgeous cathedral, all of which make each step of the way a truly special experience. Treat yourself to a cup of coffee in one of the cute little cafés and take in the lively hustle and bustle on the streets. And what's another thing you've got to do while you're here? Snap a selfie in a Panama hat, of course – the iconic straw hat that's rightly achieved cult status.

Time to trade those glittering skyscrapers for dream beaches! Hop on the plane and leave Panama City behind as you soar through the clouds to your next stop.  The colourful silhouettes of fishermen's cottages reflecting in the water, white beaches and endless blue skies – this is the perfect place for your Caribbean getaway! Immersed in the summer vibes, you start your Panama adventure totally relaxed and kick it all off by exploring the streets of Bocas del Toro as you let your nose guide you to the best restaurants and cafés in town. Can't get enough of the tropical shores? Istmito Beach is just a stone's throw away! Let the hours fly by on the soft sand until the sun slowly disappears beneath the horizon and the starry sky begins to shine above you. 

Want to discover Panama's underwater worlds? Then strap on a snorkelling mask and get up close and personal with colourful tropical fish and unique marine animals (optional, payable on site)! Watch the light of the sun gently shimmer over the corals and sea anemones below you as you glide through the warm water in amazement. Keep your eyes peeled, and if you're lucky, maybe a sea turtle will accompany you on your dive for a bit! When you make it back to land, lie down on the warm sand and look up at the deep blue sky. Want to see the stars? You don't have to wait for nighttime in Panama! Hop on the bus (optional, payable on site) and you'll be at Starfish Beach in no time. Slowly walk through the shallow water until you suddenly see them shining out of the sand: a sea full of starfish! Snap a few pics then head back to Bocas del Toro, where you still have the whole evening ahead of you.
